Cnoc Gaoithe is a modern house set within its own garden on the edge of the delightful village of Shieldaig enjoying views of the surrounding mountains. It has underfloor heating so it's warm and comfortable. There is one twin bedded room (or pushed together to make a double) with its own private ensuite shower/bathroom. There is a single room upstairs available if necessary e.g. for a child or additional travelling companion - this does not have its own bathroom. Towels and linen provided. |

You are welcome to use the sitting room - loads of books but no TV. However, if you have to keep up with what's going on in the outside world there is free unrestricted wi-fi. Mobile phone reception is not available in the house but I am advised some networks make it to the garden - otherwise a wee stroll down to the sea front and you get connected. |
Breakfast is served at the kitchen dining table to order. There are several places to eat locally but if required, a vegetarian or fish-based evening meal can be provided at £15. per head. Advanced notice would be greatly appreciated. Packed lunches can also be supplied for £5 per head. |
I have a very friendly dog and two cats so this is not the place for people allergic to animals. Haggis - the dog - would probably love to have a friend visit but my cats would definitely not, so I have to say no to pets - sorry! No-smoking in the house. Tarriff: |
A note from the owner, Sarah. I don't stand on ceremony here in my wilderness retreat but happy to share it with guests who want a quiet stop-over while exploring this idyllic part of the north west highlands. I came here 6 years ago to live my dream having been dragged here by my parents in the back of an old landrover 50 years ago. Some things have changed such as warm houses, better roads and lots of things to do and see in addition to tramping over the mountains. I did and still do alot of the latter so can give plenty of advice as to good walks in the area having set up the Shieldaig "Dynamo Dames" walking group. There's walking for everyone roundabout. But the highland welcome remains the same..... Some Reviews: Location was amazing and so was Sarah. She really helped us out with where to go and to get the best out of our time and was a great host - Paul 2016 The fruit bowl each morning was amazing.... John 2016
